Reception offered at 6:30pm, talk will begin promptly at 7:00pm

Paul Rogers is in charge of TD in the French literature and English departments at the Université Paul Valéry and the Academic Advisor for the University of Minnesota in Montpellier study abroad program.  He was born and raised in southern Rhode Island. Paul holds a PhD in medieval French literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been teaching university courses for over twenty years. His research focuses on the romans d’antiquité and courtly literature of the 12th -13th centuries. He is a published scholar in his field and enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for his subject with his students.

Drawing on personal experiences teaching in both the US and French university systems, this talk will explore the strengths and weaknesses of both academic worlds, focusing on what should be the enduring university mission of sharing knowledge and encouraging students in their journeys of discovery.
