UN sustainable goals Global Issues

 

FAWCO's Resolutions and Recommendations for 2017 - 2019 reinforce the commitment to improving the lives of women and girls globally in the key areas of education, the environment, health and human rights. The FAWCO Global Issues Teams focus on these four areas. read more

  • Education: UN Sustainable Development Goal #4 (Quality Education)- the mission of the Education Team is to increase members' awareness of global issues in education by focusing on the topics of global citizenship, literacy, equal access, bridging the gap between school and employment, especially as they relate to women and girls, while highlighting educational action being taken by Member Clubs.
  • Environment: UN Sustainable Development Goal #13 (Climate Action)- the mission of the Environment Team is to inform members about global environmental issues including air, soil and water pollution, species extinction, energy efficiency, conservation, waste reduction, and climate change. 
  • Health: UN Sustainable Development Goal #3 (Good Health and Well-being).- the mission of the Health Team is to provide information on issues related to women's health and aging. In 2014, the Team launched Clubs in Motion, which AWG member, Maggie Palu currently coordinates.
  • Human Rights: UN Sustainable Development Goal #5 (Gender Equality),- the mission of the Human Rights Team is to inform members on issues and new developments impacting women’s rights, and to engage FAWCO member clubs in awareness and action campaigns.
