World Literacy Day Global Issues Book Discussion
Join us on September 14 at 8:15 pm CET to celebrate World Literacy Day with an engaging Global Issues Book Discussion. FAWCO will host bestselling author Bonnie Garmus, former AWC member and writer of the acclaimed novel Lessons in ChemistryLessons in Chemistry is a No.1 Sunday Times and No. 1 New York Times bestseller. Translated into more than thirty-five languages, it is being adapted as an Apple TV series starring Brie Larson. is an opportunity to dive into the literary world while supporting a worthy cause. This virtual event, presented by AWC London Bookclubs and the FAWCO Education Team, will raise money towards supporting a FAWCO STEM Education Award.

Female Empowerment and Climate Action
On September 18 at 7 pm CET, join Dr. Peg Spitzer, Senior Lecturer at Stony Brook University, for an enlightening discussion on female climate change activists in the Global South. The presentation will be based partly on her new book Empowering Female Climate Change Activist in the Global South, published in July 2023, but will also introduce online tools showcasing existing projects as well as presenting the Gender Just Climate Solution Awards through a discussion of previous winners. Dr. Spitzer is a Senior Lecturer at Stony Brook University and is a jury member for the Gender Huste Climate Solutions Awards.
